Monday Buzz: the man leading coup to overthrow famous Bulldog name.

Lynne Anderson knows the dogs are barking loudly at Belmore.

Away from the locker rooms another boardroom brawl is looming over her future as chair.

A move is likely to be made within the next few days to try to talk Anderson into standing down.

Anyone would think they are going as bad as the Broncos such is the bitterness and unrest. It doesn’t matter that their expectations were nothing like Brisbane’s at the beginning of the year.

Disgruntled members are trying to gather enough numbers to call for an extraordinary general meeting, the equivalent of a no-confidence vote in the board.

Anderson knows what is happening behind the scenes. “When you’re down there are plenty of people wanting to throw stones and kick you,” she says, “I’m aware of it and I’m not surprised you are hearing about it.”

The main player in the move to oust the chair is a powerful lobbying specialist at Belmore and the same man who engineered the last boardroom coup to remove Ray Dib in early 2018.

He has now turned on the board, urged on by members, and officials with whom he had lunch with in Parramatta last Wednesday.

Right now the Bulldogs are seriously struggling. It’s not just about the two competition points each weekend, their position on the ladder or the game against the Rabbitohs on Sunday evening.

They have no major sponsor, no permanent home ground, no new signings outside of English forward Luke Thompson, and still no decision has been made on a coach for 2021 and beyond.

The delay in making a decision on Dean Pay is hurting their recruitment plans. No more big-name players will commit to the club until they know who is coaching the side.

The team’s poor roster and performances are making it impossible to sign a major sponsor, particularly with the corporate world struggling post COVID-19. Both their leagues club and football club lost millions of dollars last year, long before COVID-19. The league’s club is $45 million in debt but has a $100 million property asset in Liverpool.

Your columnist asked Anderson over the weekend if she would be prepared to walk away.

“I haven’t even thought about it,” she said. “We’re in a situation where we know we have to do better and no-one is denying that. It’s been a challenge over the last two and a half years but we’re moving forward. Other clubs have had tough years. Parramatta and Newcastle. They were given time to rebuild.”

There has also been suggestions the Lynne’s husband, former premiership winning coach Chris Anderson, is interfering in management areas where he shouldn’t be. He was forced to stand down from the board over a collapsed business, owing millions of dollars. Lynne denies Chris is still involved.

Still, the new board promised a lot but has delivered virtually nothing.

“They procrastinate over everything and can’t make a decision,” said one insider.

The Bulldogs have finished 12th, 12th and 11th in the last three years and are currently sitting on the bottom of the premiership table.

Anderson makes no apologies for her loyalty to Pay and the fact a decision has been delayed to give him every chance to win some football games.

Plus she is hoping the members show her the same faith and patience.

No chance. They can't admit there are critical problems with the club, with getting sponsors, with recruitment, with the coach. No chance admitting she's failed and standing down.

Wow .... something something friends close enemies closer. They want to hope there are no skeletons in the closet or they are all coming out.

Captain Obvious can see this. Cost us signings last year, and continues this year.

More excuses. She loves using the Parra and Knights were given time excuse.

Who gives a fuck about them, we aren't Parra, we aren't the Knights.

Parra had their board SACKED and NRL take over. Knights almost went bust before they got bought over.

Well... when you think of it like that, maybe they are trying to emulate the Eels and Knights.

There has also been suggestions the Lynne’s husband, former premiership winning coach Chris Anderson, is interfering in management areas where he shouldn’t be. He was forced to stand down from the board over a collapsed business, owing millions of dollars. Lynne denies Chris is still involved.
I've thought for a long time shes nothing but his mouth piece. That's not an attack on her, but from what I've heard he is overly controlling and needs to be involved in everything and everyones business.

“They procrastinate over everything and can’t make a decision,” said one insider.
If that's the case good luck making a decision to stand down, or sign a sponsor, or a coach, or more players.

Anderson makes no apologies for her loyalty to Pay and the fact a decision has been delayed to give him every chance to win some football games. Plus she is hoping the members show her the same faith and patience.
The longer we delay, the more useless that "war chest" we apparently have becomes.

The Andersons are the most selfish human beings ever. It's all about them and when they are questioned they quickly remind everyone about their relationship to the great Bullfrog. Biggest frauds this lot.

I'm suprised Lynne was actually allowed to keep her spot, with Chris having to step down.

Seems like they can't make a decision, and that's hurting the club badly.

I don't give a fuck what your last name is or who you did or didn't play for but I do care what is happening to the club.

I've never, ever chosen a side or played politics with the club but, evidently, change is needed. There are very few people associated with the club, and that includes players, I'd keep at all.

We need a total clean out and to start fresh. We also need an accountant similar to the ones at Roosters, Melbourne and Cronulla if you know what I mean. You know, where veteran players, and their brother, sign on for "275 a season"....

No more "look, look how much of a good boy the club is. We're so family orientated. Please like us". Do whatever it takes to win and don't worry about the NRL. They've clearly shown they don't know what they're doing/can be easily bought.

Karma is a bitch. They can't complain either because what is happening to them they did to the previous board.

If your going to win you should win fair.

I liken the previous scenario as "a race to the bottom".

When you have two sides, neither are great, the one that performed the worst goes. It wasn't that the current mob were presenting anything better, it's that the previous mob made such a mess of things that members had no other option but to look elsewhere.

I mean at the time I highlighted the sheer unprofessionalism of the current mob. Shit like spelling mistakes in bios, poorly written and formatted information. A letter that was sent to fans written in Microsoft Word and just attached to a website/email.

Really sloopy from day dot, and if it was a business you were dealing with, they'd have failed due diligence real early on.

As humans we learn from our mistakes. The members need to do this, get together, form a vote of no confidence, and get in THE BEST PEOPLE FOR THE JOB, rather than "not the worst people for the job".

I was vocal about this shit a while back, and largely got over it, moved on, and was willing to give them a chance, but this is now turning into a case of slowly suffocating the club and its fans, rather than a quick strangulation.

No more "look, look how much of a good boy the club is. We're so family orientated. DON'T YOU DARE HAVE SEX WITH A LEGAL AGED GIRL.. Please like us".
Fixed that :)

While the board keeps procrastinating, festering in its own importance and delaying their decision on who the coach will be for 2021 and on wards no one worth while noting will be signed.

Its looking that way unless they can get someone to commit in 2029.

Our club always keep the fans and members in the dark, if they want people to support them they should be open and honest with the fans on a weekly basis.

It's unprofessionalism all the way.

Just look at the braindead moron in charge of the clubs social media.

I mean... fucks sake, I've got a better squad lineup covering all players in all grades. Our official club site.. its got fuck all.

If one person can do a better job than an entire club with millions, one has to question if they've ever got someone that can do a job properly (because the media person has changed 3 times so far under their watch).

I acknowledge the current admin did state 2021 would be the first year free of salary cap issues HOWEVER whether it website, answering phones, replying to emails, general communication, recruitment or instilling confidence that they are moving the club in the right direction - they have been as abysmal.
