The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have won the 2023 Flowers Memorial Pennant after enjoying strong seasons across all of the NSWRL’s major competitions.
Introduced in 1930 as the Fred Flowers Memorial Pennant, the Club Championship is awarded to the Club with the highest aggregate points at the conclusion of competition rounds.
The Bulldogs enjoyed strong competition results across both the male and female competitions in 2023, with four teams reaching a grand final.
The Bulldogs Tarsha Gale Cup and Harvey Norman Women's Premiership teams each reached the grand finals but were narrowly defeated in tight contests. The Harold Matthews Cup and Jersey Flegg squads each won their respective titles, with the Harold Matthews team enjoying a runaway 32-6 win over Newcastle Knights, and the Jersey Flegg team earning a 22-20 victory over the Sydney Roosters.
The 2023 Flowers Memorial Pennant was awarded at CommBank Stadium today, at the conclusion of the Flegg Grand Final. Prior to the medal presentation and the singing of the team chant, Chairman John Khoury was welcomed to the stage to receive the honours:
"As a Club that is heavily invested in growing and strengthening our Bulldogs Academy pathway programs, it is an honour to receive this Award.
"I am extremely proud of all of our team's efforts in 2023 and an Award such as this speaks volumes to the future of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs."
The Bulldogs Jersey Flegg win marks the Club's first title in the grade since 2003. Members of the NRL squad, Coaching staff including Head Coach Cameron Ciraldo, General Manager of Football Phil Gould, alumni, and Bulldogs Board and Executive, were all on hand to loudly cheer on the team as they proudly lifted the trophy.
