Just trying to sus out what coaching options might be available at the Dogs:
AVAILABLE OPTIONS
Anthony Griffin - 55% career win average and above 50% with both Panthers AND Broncos, HOWEVER has had issues with board/CEO interfereing with his job in the past (and could be same here).
Shane Flanagan - 55% career win average, but tainted history with Sharks drug scandal. Still unavailable for a head coach job till 2022 apparently.
Trent Barrett - 40% career win average after 72 games with a star studded 2016 to 2018 Manly side. Replaced by Hasler. Being pushed hard by NewsLtd media for some reason. Claims made that Hill has made prelim enquiries with him.
Geoff Toovey - 52% career win average (58% with Manly 2012-2015, but only 26% with Bradford over 23 games in 2017).
Nathan Brown - 50% career win average split over 53% St George, 58% Huddlesfield, 63%, St Helens, and 26% based on 94 games at Knights.
UNLIKELY
Laurie Daley - Doubtful given the warning he gave Coctric, and seems off. Has never coached at club level.
Brad Fittler - 43% career win average with stacked Roosters side. Why would he give up the Blues job?
John Lang - 55% career win average, but 69 years old and retired from coaching in 2011.
Steve Price (not Warriors/Bulldogs one) - 48% career win average with 124 games. 36% win average before McGregor replaced him at St George, 59% with Warrington (including a Challenge Cup win in 2019).
Ivan Henjak - 56% career win average but hasn't coached since 2010 with a star studded Broncos lineup.
Michael Hagan - 53% career win average but hasn't coached since 2008 and gave it up due to health concerns.
Jason Taylor - 44% career win average (39% in final years with Tigers).
Andrew Farrar - 43% career win average but hasn't coached since 2002.
Adrian Lam - 58% career win average with Wigan over 33 games. Untested as an NRL coach.
NOT AVAILABLE
Walker Brothers - Have retired from coaching.
Wayne Bennett - Not currently available.
Craig Bellamy - Not currently available and unlikely to leave Storm.
Paul Green - Not currently available.
Tim Sheens - Contracted till 2021 with Widnes Vikings (replaced Brian Smith).
UNDERPERFORMED IN RECENT COACHING CAREERS
Neil Henry - 44% career win average.
Kevin Walters - 37% career win average with Catalans (and last coached full time in 2010).
Stephen Kearney - 35% career win average.
Danny Buderus - 33% career win average based on 6 games in 2015.
Terry Lamb - 32% career win average as coach and last coached in 2002
Garth Brennan - 30% career win average.
Brian Smith - 52% career win average, but 30% in past season as Widnes.
Paul Langmack - 14% career win average based on 35 games in 2004.
NOT AT ARMS LENGTH TO BOARD
Ben Anderson
Chris Anderson
Kevin Moore
LEFT OF FIELD
Matthew Johns - No coaching experience, but very good reader of the game when he's not goofing about.
Michael Ennis - No coaching experience but good analysis of the game.
Brett Kimmorley - No coaching experience and not the right fit for me.
Based off this club should be targeting Griffin as #1 target. Barrett's stats are not convincing enough for the change we need.
