Bulldogs come together for Awards Breakfast at Waterview

In an environment that has been difficult to navigate for everyone the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs were still able to bring players, staff, sponsors and friends together for a Presentation Breakfast at which this year’s main club awards were handed out.

Normally taking the form of a dinner, the format this year at the excellent Waterview in Bicentennial Park was arranged with the appropriate social distancing to see the current NRL squad together for the last time before heading off on holiday.

The majority of the players in attendance had the previous day generously donated their time to visiting the homeless at Rev Bill Crews Foundation - Loaves and Fishes Free Restaurant in Ashfield. The players had been invited to help serve lunch to the homeless and were more than happy to donate their time on only their second day out of the ‘bubble’ to this tremendous cause.

The Awards Breakfast was a great success with Kieran Foran picking up the Player of the Year Award after showing everyone his tenacity by overcoming injury to lead the way in the halves, while Ray Faitala-Mariner received the Coaches Award for an excellent season in which he had shown great consistency.

Jake Averillo was named Rookie of the Year after a strong start in the NRL with the local junior showing the sort of footwork that has led to many observers talking about him as a star of the future.

Talented youngster Jackson Topine was a well-deserved recipient of the Clubman of the Year Award, for a superb attitude and approach to being part of the squad at Belmore, where his enthusiasm, effort and positivity impressed everyone all season.

And finally, Adam Elliott had again showed what a superb ambassador he has been for helping those with Autism, by dying his hair blue and raising over $10 000 for the Autism Community Network. Adam continues to devote a great deal of his free time to supporting all Bulldogs’ Community causes and is a driving force across a number of important areas for the club.

Can't disagree with these awards.

Foran - despite injury busted his arse for us week in / week out.
Elliott - does so much for the community (which is why Mad Monday shit pissed me off so much - none of that was taken into consideration).
RFM - was absolutely superb this year. If he can improve on his form too, could become one of the best second rowers in the game.

Keen to see how Topine progresses as the bloke has a big future, and his sister Sydney is pretty decent in womans comp too!

I'm annoyed we've lost Tass for next year without his ability to show what he's capable of, but we've got a few decent backs coming through.
