I have no idea who this "Fatima Kdouh" person is, so feel free to move this to rumours if need be

By Fatima Kdouh

Canterbury’s roster cull has begun as the Belmore club also puts a freeze on contract extension offers placing the future of 16 players in limbo.

The Bulldogs have been one of the most active recruiters in the market having signed boom playmaker Matt Burton, premiership winger Josh Addo-Carr and Brent Naden for 2022.

But internally, The Daily Telegraph understands a number of players have already been informed they will not be re-signed.

Former Origin forward Dylan Napa, who has been shopped to other clubs, is set to lead coach Trent Barrett’s roster overhaul which included fellow off-contract players Will Hopoate, Jeremy Marshall-King, and Nick Meaney.

It’s believed the club will retain around four of the 16 players fighting to save their careers at Belmore.

It’s understood the club has also decided to put a freeze on making any official extension offers while the side is struggling on the field.

Sounds like a story pieced together from comments on another website.

Would be more likely that 4 of 16 would be released, as retaining 4 of 16 means we have a shitload of signings to make to cover a Top 30 next year.

Fatima normally reports on Bulldogs issues and is reasonably accurate.

Meaney is the only one I'd be concerned about, if he could find that explosive pace that is holding him back.
Quick, yet takes a week to get into top gear, which by then, their fucking coach has chased him down, along with the rest of the team and their token sick kid of the week that's still in traction FFS!

What I'd like to see from Meaney is him bulk up a little, and be available more often as a support player.. also he's not somebody we would want to spend a whole lot on

I would also re-sign Okunbor.. obviously his defence needs work but any player who can run over the top of Storm defence is worth holding onto.. plus he was one player in our team who was actually showing improvement with the ball

I reckon Cameron Smith has PTSD flashbacks about that game. Twice in one night too!.

Meaney and Okunbor are still rough diamonds, but with the right coach and direction could become real weapons.

Been a while since we had genuine pace at the back.

yeah Okunbor just needs a lot of work on his positioning, particularly in defence.. I really would like to see him now that we've got Cotric who will take focus off of jayden.. the good teams were teaming defenders up on Jayden like they do Cotric but they won't be able to do that next year, especially when you throw JAC and NADEN into the mix

Trent has to up the ante this upcoming pre season.. take a leaf out of Penrith's book.. they are super fit and very mentally switched on.... this team can't keep repeating what we've done for the past 5 years or so
