He said the same about Lewis, so I wouldn't be taking his word as gospel at the moment.

Interesting quotes in this article:

“Really proud of the effort, the way the boys hung in there, keep fighting for everything they get,” Pay said post-game. “We played a little bit better footy tonight, defended a little bit better. We need to keep getting better with what we’re doing.”

"a little bit better" won't cut it as thats said every damn week for the past few years Dean.

Excuses only last so long!

But this one was most interesting.

We’re starting to get our cap back in order,” Pay said.
“And we need to buy some real quality players to put around these young blokes that are turning up and give 100 per cent each and every week. And that’s what they’ve been doing.”

Starting to? It should already be back in order.

"they're" - is he saying that's what the club is trying to do ? If so it suggests he isn't involved in player aquisition.

Or is he saying that turning up and giving 100% each week is what "they're" (aka the players) doing?

What choice did he have when our points achieved double digits?
Wonder if Wakeham has expressed that if he's not played, he's looking to leave, thus DP told he has to give him a fair chance and real consistent game time?

I don't quite rate Wakeham. He's been pretty flat in NSW Cup, but looked great in Jersey Flegg.

Kinda like Meaney. There's the makings of a good player, but just not clicking at present.

I mean that try he setup for Hoppa was probably the bet bit of halves play we've seen that hasn't involved Foran, no brainer to stick with him unless you're going to turn to Averillo.

Just unfortunate that it's taken Pay this long to give Wakeham the minutes and genuine opportunity he deserves, kid should've played way more when fit last season and should've retained his spot in the team this year. At least if he got the minutes we would have a better idea of where he's at and where we need it go...instead we pissed away valuable games with Lewis who can't even pass a ball lol.

As said earlier, look at the surrounding side and game plan he has to work with etc.
Any glimpses of a half within that environment are enough to justify further faith.
Indeed, the tough times may aid in building him into a better half, as he's had to play in adverse conditions and struggle to get points, yet he is, which is something Lewis couldn't despite a century of #Payout support.
