Author bulldogs.com.au - Tue 31 Aug 2021, 03:58 PM

Will Hopoate will farewell Bulldogs fans with his final match in the blue and white against the Tigers at Moreton Daily Stadium in Redcliffe on Sunday (4:05PM AEST).
Hopoate, has long been a favourite amongst Bulldogs fans, having joined the club in 2016, and represented the blue and whites on 123 occasions leading into Sunday.
During that time the versatile back has scored 24 tries, and has set up many more with his quick hands and understanding of the game.

The Bulldogs can also confirm that the following off-contract players will be leaving the club at the end of this season:
Dylan Napa
Will Hopoate (St Helens ESL)
Lachlan Lewis
Nick Meaney (Storm)
Renouf Atoni (Roosters)
Sione Katoa
Dean Britt
Chris Smith
James Roumanos
Brad Deitz
Watson Heleta
Kiko Manu

Bulldogs Chief Executive, Aaron Warburton, thanked all the players for their efforts on behalf of the club:
"I'd like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the Bulldogs, to thank all of the players that are departing at the end of this season, for their efforts during their time at Belmore. Every player is a part of Bulldogs' history and will always be welcomed back to the club. We now wish each of them, and their family, all the best for the future."

Interesting list of departing players.
Dylan Napa - Replaced by Paul Vaughan
Lachlan Lewis - Still believe he deserved a contract extension.
Sione Katoa - JMK and BBO looking likely as hookers in 2022.
Dean Britt - Surplus and unlikely to play NRL anytime soon.
Chris Smith - Still believe he deserved a contract extension.
James Roumanos - Never really progressed (much like Kayne Kalache). With Chris Patolo looking good, is surplus.
Brad Deitz - Joshua Cook signing pretty much ended any chance of him with us. Not to mention a few other hookers coming through.
Watson Heleta - Never really got a chance to prove himself.
Kiko Manu - Not a bad player, but we have a few quality backs coming through soon like Alamoti, Picken, etc.

Renouf has the potential to be good but he rarely stood up in our first grade side so it is what it is I guess.. sad to see Lachy go but I think the writing was on the wall when Trent decided to play a centre/winger as a half all season
