Bulldogs club captain Ray Faitala-Mariner returned from an illness, while an emerging playmaker impressed in his first game back from an ACL injury.

Bulldogs playmaker Bailey Biondi-Odo played his first game in 294 games after recovering from an ACL injury suffered in the first week of NSW Cup’s finals last season. The 21-year-old got through the 80 minutes unscathed, finishing with a try assists, a linebreak assist and 135 running metres. He also made 14 tackles but did miss five.
Club captain Raymond Faitala-Mariner also returned to the field after battling pneumonia for the last month. He also got through the full 80 minutes, finishing with 92 running metres, six tackle busts and 34 tackles — but did miss four.
