The NRL has been rocked with another drugs drama on grand final day after Canterbury forward Ofahiki Ogden was charged with alleged drugs possession last night.

The Bulldogs were made aware of an incident involving Ogden after being informed by his manager. The club has passed on the information to the NRL’s integrity unit.

Ogden is contracted to the blue and whites until October 31, but the club had no plans to offer him a new deal.

“The club was made aware of an incident involving Ofahiki Ogden overnight. We have reported everything to the NRL integrity unit. We can’t comment further until we hear back from them. Ofahiki doesn’t hold a contract past October 31.” said Canterbury CEO Aaron Warbuton.

NRL star Ofahiki Ogden has been charged with cocaine possession in the third drug scandal for the league in a week.

The Canterbury-Bankstown forward was pulled over by officers on Saturday night and allegedly found in the possession of cocaine.

The NRL and his club confirmed they were aware of the allegations.

'We’re aware that Ofahiki was charged with possession of an illegal substance and the matter is currently with the integrity unit. We can’t make any comment other than that." Bulldogs chief executive Aaron Warburton said.

Ogden's manager Luke Lombardi said the Bulldogs prop was 'ashamed' and 'embarrassed' over the alleged incident. "Anybody who knows him, knows that he embodies what it is to be an athlete and this truly is against his character".

The New Zealander's contract ends on November 1 and will not be renewed. A two-year contract was put on the table by the Bulldogs earlier this year, but the club withdrew the offer.
