The NRL really need to make a stand against journo speculation. No source, no story.. simple.
Well not so much speculation itself but writing stories as if they are facts unless a genuine source is provided. Writing things like "there's been suggestions" to me is basically saying "I've made this up".
I'm still worried about our shapes and structures, mainly in opposition 20.. we are still clunky in that zone and Potter doesn't strike me as a real meticulous coach.. I hope the club doesn't fuck this up.
yeah I agree.. feel like Gus's ego might come into play... I'd like to know what the board would have done if he wasn't around.
I know Gus is good for our club but right now this is one of the most important decisions in our clubs history for mine.. we can't risk losing Burton in particular.
Only other thing I can think, is they've signed a coach that is currently contracted elsewhere for 2023.
Don't know if its the same as players whereby you can't approach until after Nov within 12 months of end of contract.
That could explain Gould stating that he (personally) hasn't spoken to a coach, and why the club can't announce anything. it's also possible that the club are contractually obliged not to disclose the new coach till end of season.
However IF this was the case, that'd be pretty shitty for the club the coach is currently with, to simply go "yeah Im out" at end of the season. To me that wouldn't sit right.
UNLESS it's an assistant coach at another club, and they want them to be distraction free for the remainder of 2022 season... but again most clubs are happy to let them go straight away.
