With so much focus on the field, it has been fantastic news to see 17 of the club’s contracted players complete their club coaching course.
The 17 players included - Jackson Topine, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Christian Crichton, Sione Katoa, Tui Katoa, Aiden Tolman, Josh Jackson, Jesse Sue, Isaiah Tass, Will Hopoate, Joe Stimson, James Roumanos, Tim Lafai, Jack Cogger, Nick Meaney, Kieran Foran and Marcelo Montoya.
Conducted at Belmore Sports Ground for five hours under the guidance of Game Development Officer and the club’s COVID Officer Kurt Mangan, the players were put through theory and practical sessions to gain accreditation to coach under 6s through to A Grade at a community sports level.
The theory part consisted of online modules, while the practical component saw the players complete a coaching assessment task where they were required to guide their teammates through various coaching situations.
To progress further in their coaching careers, the players will need to complete a senior club coaching course in order to have the ability to coach all pathway levels (Harold Matthews, Tarsha Gale, SG Ball, Jersey Flegg, Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership and the Canterbury Cup) outside of the NRL.
