Maori win 16 - 10

MOTM Joe Tapine

Did you guys watch the game? Thoughts?

I think it played out much like you'd of expected to with Maori dominating in the forwards. I suppose the one thing that stood out to me was indigenous trying to go through Maori, despite having a wealth of speed on the edges.. JAC and Naden saw very little ball, while the Hammer had about one touch.

Joe Tapine looks like he's in for a huge season; power and skill.

As much as despise the bloke I think Cody Walker would have made a huge difference in the fact he would have fed Josh and Brent all game. Nicho Hynes looked decent though, kicked well but just needs to improve on knowing where the ball needs to go.

I should add that I know it was raining but there was still no way indigenous were going to win trying to play through the middle.

Hynes isn't a half, he's a ball playing fullback. If Sharks try and persist with him in the halves they are in for a loooooooong season.

I thought he kicked alright but the organising wasn't real great. I'd play Trindall and Moylan in the halves with Hynes at the back. Not sure where that leaves Kennedy though.

Naden looked a bit shaky in d but we're not exactly going to be in contention this season so plenty of time to improve.
