Josh Addo-Carr has been hit with a Breach Notice from the NRL after it was reported he would be hit with a two-game suspension for his role in a brawl at the Koori Knockout.
The two-game sanction comes after the NRL spoke to Addo-Carr on Wednesday as a part of their investigation into the fight at the Central Coast footy carnival according to the SMH.
In footage taken of the incident, the Bulldogs flyer is seen throwing a punch at a rival player.
The NRL issued Addo-Carr a Breach Notice on Friday morning, alleging a breach of the NRL Code of Conduct following an investigation by the league’s Integrity Unit.
“It is alleged Addo-Carr engaged in conduct which has brought the game into disrepute by punching an opposition player to the head following a match at the NSW Annual Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout Competition,” an NRL media release read.
“Addo-Carr has 5 business days to respond to the Breach Notice.
Under the new collective bargaining agreement, the league can’t announce their punishment until after the player has had five days to respond.
Addo-Carr has been replaced in the Kangaroos squad by Penrith star Dylan Edwards.
Edwards’ inclusion in Australia’s squad for the upcoming Pacific Championships is a deserved reward for the hardworking and underrated fullback, who was one of Penrith’s best in their 26-24 grand final win over the Broncos.
Three Panthers (Liam Martin, Isaah Yeo, Nathan Cleary) were named in the initial 21-man squad on Tuesday, but Cleary has since been ruled out with a knee injury. He has been replaced by Sharks star Nicho Hynes.
The inaugural Pacific Championships kicks off on Saturday, October 14 when Australia take on Samoa in Townsville.
