Why do we persist with JMK?
We've changed halves, yet the only other position that shapes our side's play, is stagnant?

I wonder if Baz keeps JMK because he's a decent defender.. The bench could probably be used better as well, I notice our 14 doesn't see much game time

Hmmm the cynic in me wonders if JJ has voluntarily stepped aside for this game.

Problem is they're trying to make Jackson a ball player but it seems like they haven't spent enough time training for it.. He gave so many useless crash balls to Vaughan on the weekend. I feel for Jacko, he has aged as a player so fast at this club.. if he chased the glory in his prime he could have had a similar career to Finucane in my opinion. I just think Baz has got to give the ball playing duties to a natural ball player.

He can be a ball player, but not at lock, and the modern game is much faster than him. His best years were in second row rather than trying to be a link man playing both sides of the field.

This in addition to JMK are two big issues at the club as Jacksons getting in the way too much (hence the one man out 4th tackle crap), and JMK rarely does anything except pass to the man immediately beside him. Even I could do that!

As such we become predictable in attack and hence shut down easily.

I can't remember the last time I saw JMK throw a dummy and then throw an opposite cut out ball.

I'd just like us to try Cook at #9, and put someone like Waddell or Stimson at #13, and see if that makes a difference to how we attack.

I honestly think they've just gotta start throwing caution to the wind.. Our forwards and in particular Vaughan are offering the guys enough opportunities and we often do setup plays for the majority of the set, and then when it finally comes to an attacking play the players are sometimes a bit hesitant... I think they've gotta channel teams like Panthers and Melbourne who are at the opposition all the time.

JMK has done some good things here and there but I just feel like he plays way too conservatively... which is really interesting given who is brother is.

Well Waddell is actually more skilful than what we're seeing, but many wouldn't know much about his time at Penrith.

Kent may be right about Barrett being a nice guy but maybe too nice to be a coach at a club that has lost its way. Maybe that is why he persists with JMK at hooker because he doesnt like being nasty and wielding the stick to players who don't perform but being nice doesnt guarantee your permanence as coach.

I think that's the problem at the moment. Barrett trying to coach the side like Cleary did at Panthers, and its not working. We need to coach the side how best fits the players abilities.

Would be nice to snag someone like Cameron Ciraldo alongside Barrett, but I doubt that would ever happen. If I was the club I'd talk to Barrett about getting Shane Flanagan in at the expense of Furner or Sandercock. Problem is not sure Flanno would take an assistant coaching role. HOWEVER, what if he worked with both Barrett AND Tangata-Toa across both grades as an assistant coach. That'd be beneficial to both guys.

I'm yet to know what Sandercock or Furner are actually doing at the club. I believe Furner works on defence though.

Surely you'd have to think Dan Ferris is on thin ice as well.

Barrett has dropped players before, so he can do it. Maybe we aren't seeing something in Cooks game that has them concerned.

Probably overestimated Burton too... like Matt is a good player don't get me wrong, but as a half he's still very green at the top level. But yeah let's hope they can hit on something that works for the team real soon because one quality 80 minutes could be all it takes to get some belief.

Yeah if I were Baz I'd be looking to bring somebody in with a bit of mongrel to the coaching staff... I know Big Willy is around the joint but to what extent I'm not sure.

Definitely.. Like I'm all for blokes with limited experience getting a crack, but we've got to see more resilience soon.

Naden out of the game still with Covid.. replaced by *drumroll please* Jayden Okunbor.

and he's marking up against Suaalii.

There's a few tries alone up that side.

JAC has swapped sides and playing outside Schoupp in Nadens normal spot.

Max King slots in at lock.

Cook not playing NRL today. But Billy Tsikrikas has been promoted to NRL bench.

After watching NSW Cup today it's pretty clear why JMK holds the position at hooker.

Josh Cook and Ryan Gray (hooker and bench hooker) were both absolutely hopeless.

Cooks attack is on par with JMK, but defence is non existent. He'd get eaten alive in NRL. Making matters worse he gave away 2 back to back penalties in our 30m zone, directly resulting in a try.

Gray isn't much better. Defensively average and one man out passing.

Clubs best bet is probably Mahoney in 2023, with Ghantous still coming through the system (I think).

If we HAD to pick at the moment (because JMK got injured or had Covid), then we'd have to go with either BBO or Topine.

Yeah fair.. I just want to see JMK be a bit more aggressive with the ball.. he's very conservative and once in a while he has one of those good games where he makes a few breaks but then it's back to the usual the following round.

So we get a win tonight thank goodness the cameras spot a foot into touch with the roosters last try but did you notice we were barely sighted in the roosters half for the last 30 mins of the game with it still hanging in the balance. and the reason JMk takes the ball passes to a forward to another forward to another forward and so it went on and we wonder why we dont or cant score many tries when we can get out of our 40 in six tackles . We always tiurn the ball inside you can read them like a book. For chits sakes we have fast backs bloody use them to get out of trouble. Another thing i shudder everytime okunbor takes a ball sure he scored a try tonight but his defence is woeful he always come in with the third tackle with ahand on the player surely we dont count that as a tackle . every club know where to play the dogs now up okunbors wing cos he is so suspect in defence

First time we've beaten the Roosters since 2016. Lost like the last 8 from 10 games against them.

Watched this one delayed tonight ..

Can't wait for NRL to introduce forward pass technology into the game because so many got missed tonight.

Huge confidence boost for the club this game, and well deserved win.

Raiders next week (who are just above us on ladder with same for and against). Raiders riding a wave of losses including a golden point loss today to Warriors. Dogs on a high from this win.
