Stephen Crichton is going to be one of our most significant signings. This year he is cemented himself as not only the game's premier centre, but confirmed that he is a genuine clutch player. Pulling off a game-winning intercept against Souths was a huge play, but now he has scored four tries in four consecutive grand finals, and along with Luai, he guided Samoa into their first world cup grand final. He was also arguably NSW's best this year, certainly in game 3 he was.
There's a lot of good centres running around, but he has proven that he has genuine X factor, and you can never predict what he's going to do, but you know he's going to do something when his team needs it.
He brings the right attitude.. He has a real willingness to win.. Nathan was the key for Penrith on Sunday, but Crichton also stood up and produced some real significant plays, including the two drop outs, jumping on a loose ball inside Penrith's 20, and scoring a dominant try. That's the type of attitude we need at our club from our experienced players.. but not just that, he's a talker.. Kikau will prove his worth next year, and he does lead with action, but Mahoney cannot be the only loud voice in the squad.
I don't have big expectations for next year, but the pieces are starting to come together.
