Talakai facing six-week ban

Cronulla Sharks forward Siosifa Talakai is facing a six-week suspension after being issued a shoulder charge offence in his side's loss to Canterbury.

Talakai, who was sent to the sin bin for the 25th-minute hit on Bulldogs forward Matt Doorey, has been given a grade three charge by the match review committee.

An early guilty plea would reduce the ban to four matches, but if he fights the charge and is unsuccessful he will be out for six weeks.

After leaving the field for a HIA, Doorey played no further part in the match.

I know it was bad, but didn't quite expect that long. I guess they are probably thinking that Sharks will challenge the grading, and they'll settle for like a 3-4 week ban instead.

4 weeks which is what he will get is fair... actually in my opinion his was worse than Hetherington's because a shoulder to the jaw will do much more damage.. swinging arms in many cases look a lot worse than what they are

Swinging arm can break a trachea, or cause neck damage.
Jaw shot though can shatter a blokes jaw and effectively end his season.

Swinging arm is just as likely to do damage to the arm swinger too.
