The Mole: Knights prop David Klemmer eyeing club change and Bulldogs may fit bill

Don't be surprised if Knights big bopper David Klemmer looks for a change of clubs over the summer.

Klemmer has two years to go at the Knights on around $800,000 a season but the former NSW Origin and Test prop isn't happy that he has been named on the bench in recent weeks.

With the Saifiti twins signing long term deals last week and coach Adam O'Brien starting the pair to good effect against the Cowboys a few weeks back, Klemmer feels on the outer.

The tough prop actually started against the Storm last weekend when Daniel Saifiti pulled out but had an unhappy night, making just four runs for 32 metres before a concussion forced him from the field.

Several clubs would be interested in the aggressive middle man, not the least his former club Canterbury, who are desperate for more grunt up front.

SHARKS, RAIDERS COULD GIVE BROOKS FRESH START

If there's one player in the NRL that could benefit with a sea change in 2022, it's Luke Brooks.

The talented halfback was touted as the next big thing when he burst into the top grade at the Tigers as a teenager in 2013.

He was named Dally M Halfback of the Year in 2018 but his career has plateaued since then.

With Jackson Hastings joining the Tigers next season and Adam Doueihi finding his feet at five-eighth, Brooks could be squeezed out of the top side.

But at 26, he still has plenty to offer and I've heard that both Cronulla and Canberra have shown some interest in his services.

Only yesterday, it was revealed that the Tigers are shopping Brooks around so it appears just a question of where he will land in 2022.

ENGLAND MAY BE TAYLOR'S ONLY OPTION

Rival NRL clubs are shying away from Ash Taylor and it now appears the Titans' million-dollar man may have to go to England to save his career.

Taylor has been a bitter disappointment at the club over the last couple of seasons after signing for massive money from the Broncos three years ago.

Despite the fact that several clubs are desperate for a class No.7, Taylor has shown little to attract any offers.

He is off-contract at the Titans, who have extended Jamal Fogarty and promising youngster Toby Sexton in recent times.

While Sexton is untested at the top level, he appears the man destined to wear the No.7 jumper on the Goldy next season - at a significantly cheaper price than Taylor, who has had issues on and off the field.

Taylor has talent on his day, and at 26, still has time to rebuild his form and confidence in England for a couple of seasons before a possible return to the NRL.

BULLDOGS' INSIDE RUNNING FOR VAUGHAN SIGNING

The Bulldogs have an ace up their sleeve in the race to sign former Dragons bad boy Paul Vaughan.

Several clubs are chasing Vaughan after he was sacked by the Dragons for THAT now infamous barbecue.

But Canterbury has an edge in assistant coach David Furner.

It was Furner who handed the 30-year-old forward his debut in the NRL at Canberra in 2013, with Vaughan going on to be named the Raiders' Rookie of the Year.

The pair have maintained a close relationship and the Bulldogs are certain to use that as they attempt to lure Vaughan to Belmore.

Having signed several top-notch backs for next season, the Bulldogs now need a couple of experienced forwards and Vaughan would fit the bill nicely.

I've put a lot of shit on him over the years but would happily have him back.. If it weren't for the poor running of the club at the time he'd never of left

No need for a big cat that runs from a challenge.
Not happy coming off the bench, let your performance do the talking.
It appears he lacks the mental fortitude needed when things get tough to see it through.
He left us and now wants to leave the Knights.
Only way I'd want him back is for a direct swap for Napa with the Knights picking up his tab for the next few years.
See if he deserves an extension of his contract after the Knights money runs out.

Chloe would never live in the plebs of Sydney again. Her family is all up in Newcastle area and that's why they moved up there.

Has Klemmer really been THAT good for Knights though? If we snag Vaughan do we need him either?

What's Russell Packer doing these days?

I think Klemmer has turned into that player who brings value as far as still making decent meters consistently, but he's not devastating.. he'd still be just about our best forward bar maybe Thompson if he came back

Gus is talking to the bronco we were hoping to sign . He might just swing it and i think that is a better option

I'm only ok with it if it's not big money is all.. he did us dirty but despite not being amazing right now he provides some value still.. if it's the only option of course.. hopefully we can do better than Vaughn/Klem

Klemmer wants out because he's fallen out of favour with O'Brien, and unhappy about the minutes he is playing off bench.

He's gotta realise that's pretty much what he is now.. he doesn't have the same impact a guy like Daniel Saifiti has now

Too low brow area for Chloe. She'll want to be near family in Newie. David will get told to stay put.

I think our pack will be much better next year with the new recruits coming on board, when you look at the top teams they all have outside backs who supply a lot of the yardage and also they obviously have good kickers in the spine.. Burton and the arriving outside men/Cotric are going to make life much easier for our forwards

Watching Hetherington against the rabbits last week I get the feeling that he is carting the ball up better and making inroads with the ball in his hands. We need a few backs to trail him because he could develop into a good ball distributor so long as he controls his aggression.

The only weak part of this weeks pack is going to be Waddell yet another wasted signing this year.

Jack has a lot of potential.. Sometimes I think people forget, well I know I do, that it's only his first full season.. I definitely can see him becoming a long term forward leader for us. You're right.. even forwards running with him.. one of the commentators on the weekend was pointing out how the best packs play in that sorta V shape where the ball carrier has options on both sides or can go himself.

Yea I think Waddell tries but he's just a bit soft.. I'd like to see him used more like how Manly used him in 2019

Waddell just seems out of place. Will give up his spot next year when TPJ plays I reckon.

Imagine RFM and TPJ in the second row on either side, with Thompson and Hetherington in front row and Jackson at lock. That's a seriously capable front row.

I still think RFM may not be the answer. Before he got injured he was only playing so so compared with previous years

Dale Finucane would fit perfectly alongside TPI but i think somehow other teams are well in front to get him
