CANTERBURY BULLDOGS (def by Knights 32-16)

vs Penrith Panthers

To their credit, the Bulldogs had a good grip on last week’s game in the opening 20 minutes. The effort was there and new combinations looked promising. But a solid 20 minutes isn’t going to cut it against the reigning minor premiers. A fast start will help, given it only took the Panthers six minutes to find the lane last week, but resilient defence is the key this week. No matter how much improvement Canterbury can make in a week — and even with the return of Jeremy Marshall-King — it’s probably going to take a small miracle to upset the star-studded Panthers. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, a loss will take it to a 0-2 start for the fifth straight season.

Whilst a fair comment, I think our side should be viewed like a new team entering the comp for the first time. Instant success shouldn't be expected, but rather seen as a longer term goal.

I'd say 5-10 game mark is when we (as fans), should be hoping to see a turn around with things.

New combinations (and in particular young ones) take time to nurture.

I wouldn't expect say Sam Walker or Sualli from Roosters to debut and perform like superstars. Heck just look at Ponga who is STILL struggling.
