Fuck... was injured in Dragons game hence didn't return.

"I pivoted off my left foot and, as I've done that, I felt my left toe,'' Foran said.
"I had surgery on that toe in 2018 after I had snapped a few ligaments. I'll get a scan tonight, but it didn't feel good.
"I'm hoping I'm wrong with the toe and it's not as bad as I'm thinking. But it's pretty sore. And I found it was a similar feeling to when I did it in 2018. That was what worried me the most. I could be wrong.''

I swear this bloke is cursed.

If Forans gone again, someone needs to get on the phone and offer gobbies to get Hastings out here ASAP.

Foran suffered the injury midway through the first half when he tried to pivot off his left foot but was able to play on before he was eventually taken off for an HIA following a late shot from Tariq Sims.

Foran was forced to miss a defensive set due to the toe injury because he’d gone down as the sides packed for a scrum. The 30-year-old missed the backend of the 2018 season after he suffered a similar injury in his first year with the Bulldogs. The luckless playmaker has struggled to stay on the field since moving to Belmore and is due some good fortune.

“I felt like my toe was a bit of a concern because I’ve had surgery on it back in 2018. I felt a similar feeling to it back when I did it in 2018. It’s pretty sore so I’ll get scans,” he said.

“I’ve been alright since I had the surgery on it when I had it fixed up in 2018. I haven’t had any dramas with it, but when I pivoted off my left foot midway through that first half, I felt it click again which is what it felt like when I did it the first time. I hope I’m wrong. I hope I’m just being cautious, but I’m a bit worried.”

The injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for the veteran No.6 as he chases a new deal for 2021, with Foran keen to learn the diagnosis before he makes a call on his future.

“It’s not the best timing. It’s been the story of the last few years for me. I’ve learnt to deal with it and get on with it. Fingers crossed it’s not too bad,” he lamented.

“My priority will be the injury and making sure I’m right. Once I know what I’m dealing with on the injury front, then I can make some calls regarding that call.”

......

I swear he's made our of balsa wood and tissue paper. When he's on, he's on (and straights up our attack), but he's more unreliable than a Jeep or a Leyland P76.

Who else gets a toe injury?? The fact Des & the other muppets rubber stamped a big money deal is criminal.

And even with his injury history, Teflon wants more than the reported 400K we're offering for next year.

Considering he can't string together fives games and play at his full capacity, I'd say that's more than fair

Problem is .... who is out there of equal skill (but more reliable) and off contract.

Blake Green is about the only one that comes to mind.

and I reckon if Foran is done, there's a good chance we could get him over for this season.

Lafai has been signed and will be with squad on Tuesday

Nice!!! If I was bothering with the rumour leaderboard you'd have serious runs on the board already :D

@Is it safe yet So have we lost CHN?

I'm guessing backline is now:
1. Meaney
2. DWZ
3. Lafai
4. Montoya
5. Smith

With Averillo left out (albeit I'd put him in halves). I don't think DWZ or Montoya will end up dropped, and I'm still not fully convinced with Smith.

You just can't have a guy on your books in who we are just expecting his next injury to occur each time he hits the field

If Barrett is confirmed it's highly likely Green would sign with us. Green was at Manly under Barrett.

please don't say that
I'm gobsmacked Lafai is coming back. It's akin to working with a company leaving and coming back again
and in my opinion the second time around never works nine times out of 10 so please no one expect miracles

but as someone here pointed out, he is still better than what we have.. I for one am getting sick of watching out guys get dominated, at least Lafai has a bit of power about him.. also it's unlikely we're going to be paying him much

If he was playing well St George wouldn't have given him up so easily.
On the subject of Foran he may well set the dogs alight when he is on the field but can we afford to keep relying on him to play only a handful of games each year . The best thing would be for him to retire and come back as a specialist halves coach with the dogs to bring the young guys on. He owes that to the dogs in loyalty considering his value over 3 years has never been realised, but then again I don't believe there is any loyalty anymore with the big money being thrown around to "has beens"

Additionally I don't think at this time the league should add a 17 team to the NRL because that will cause a bye and then there will be calls for an 18th team and tbh I don't think there are enough good players still available to fill another one or two teams so all it will do is dilute the talent even more except in the case of the Roosters where paper bag manufacture increases year after year. Any wonder the supermarkets stick with plastic bags roosters have cornered all the production stock per annum.

Foran cleared of any injury.

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/th...e-task-ahead-at-bulldogs-20200719-p55dge.html

If the latter is some long-awaited good news for the NRL cellar dwellers in a tumultuous year, there was some more of it on Sunday when Kieran Foran was cleared of a toe injury he feared could end his season.

The playmaker is now expected to suit up in the team’s round-11 match against Newcastle next Sunday, before which Barrett is likely to be officially installed as the Bulldogs’ next full-time head coach following Dean Pay's resignation last week.
