Legendary All Blacks coach Steve Hansen will arrive in Australia at the end of the week as part of a 10-day business trip with the Canterbury Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs, who announced Hansen’s appointment with great fan fare last year, have been waiting eight months for him to walk through the doors at the club’s Belmore facility. He will touch down in Sydney on Thursday night and will attend the club’s next two matches against St George Illawarra and Parramatta.

Hansen is regarded as one of the best coaches in all sports, leading the All Blacks to 93 victories from 108 Tests as head coach. He lost to Australia just three times in 22 games, with his most famous win coming in the form of the 2015 World Cup final at Twickenham.

Canterbury announced Hansen as the club’s high performance consultant last October, however international travel restrictions due to COVID-19 had prohibited Hansen from fulfilling his commitment in person.
Hansen has been in regular contact with coach Trent Barrett and his staff over the phone and Zoom, however the Bulldogs have been desperate for him to share his knowledge and expertise in person.

Barrett has an existing relationship with Hansen, having spent time with the All Blacks on previous study trips.
His knowledge and ability to implement culture and set standards will be invaluable to a Canterbury team trying to discover its identity.

Hansen will not only work with the players and coaching staff, he has been allocated time to work with the club’s office staff and visit sponsors.
Hansen is also a horse racing enthusiast. He is a part-owner of champion sprinter Nature Strip, a winner of six group 1 races including the TJ Smith Stakes in 2020 and 2021. The six-year-old will again run in The Everest, the world’s richest race on turf, in October.
Hansen will be wined and dined by ARLC chairman and Racing NSW boss Peter V’landys during his time down under.

If Hansen does not speak up against the injustice our side continues to face from the NRL whilst being wined and dined by V'landys, he is not worth the blank piece of paper his contract is printed upon!

I'm soo sick of hearing how we don't have the squad as an excuse for our piss poor performance.
We've ALWAYS fought, often as the under dog, and punched beyond our weight.
There's genuine talent in the team, we have juniors that have stood out amongst their peers in the different development grades, yet have not continued to grow as players when stepping up to the top 30.
It is not the troops, yet leadership.
FFS our defence is worse than last year, without the benefit of an improved attack to replace it.
Why didn't we sign a juniors coach and ex player in Holbrook?
Why didn't we sign Gould when available, rather than try to politely poach him from the Warriors when it's too late?
Why?
Why indeed!
Perhaps as we're too afraid of being ruthless and putting ourselves first as Bullfrog did?
Perhaps it's time to simply not give a fuck about the NRL and other clubs opinions if they don't align with our interests and for once, put ourselves FIRST!

It's the sign of a club with poor leadership and no standards... like, we're meant to celebrate when the team decides to turn up... that's a win for us apparently, even if we get 30+ put on us... Far out that is a sad sad state of affairs... these guys get paid good money... turning up you would think should be just part of the contract

I have said for ages that all contracts in the NRL including support staff etc which includes coaches, trainers mental retards and anyone else that wants to get paid by the club with piss weak results, should all be performance based. Then you watch what happens. I was brought up in an era where you performed you got rewarded when you slacked off they said bye bye to you without any legal recourse.

Im surpised the club hasn't' blamed the supporters for not turning up to watch overpaid players perform week after week . Why would they . The NRL was always a working man's sport. A working man is not going to turn up each week paying out top dollars of his hard earned pay to watch a bunch of no hopers on top pay go around week after week with no result . This club has not improved this year. It is still sliding into a mire of excuses and blame everyone else attitude. How can coaches say week after week they see improvement? The only thing we can see is them lining their own pockets with fat cheques. The coaches comments are merely to justify their own positions. I rest my case.

I have always been one of Hasler's critics because of his third party deals but let's face it Manly was down and out but they dragged themself out of the hole and are now up there with the best .
Look at Hara Narawa average here now he is killing them in play for Canberra. Look at Smith down at Melbourne scoring week after week . There is still something rotten in this club when they leave the dogs and improve or come here and lose form. One has to seriously look at the clubs structure in coaching and administration.

We did win, yet is that just a bandaid over a septic otherwise ignored wound?
Let's see them back it up again with two in a row!

While Dragons didn't turn up, I still think it's the best the boys have played and they looked like they were trying to win, not trying not to lose :D

Agree too but one good game with half the season gone is hardly breath taking but it is a step in the right direction. The worry is all the players off contract play exceptional now and we resign all of them again for another 4 years like we have done in the past . do you think thay are playing to get another pay rise and contract update?
