Tigers enforcer Alex Twal has finally broken his 116-game try-scoring drought in “unbelievable” scenes at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Halfback Brandon Wakeham put a cross field kick in, which was dropped by Storm defenders as the ball landed in the path of David Klemmer and Twal.

Klemmer knew his teammate was in a better position and in a “miracle” the 26-year-old prop was there to put the finishing touches on an unforgettable moment.

Rugby league legend Michael Ennis and commentator Andrew Voss erupted as the Tigers team swarmed their reliable front rower.

“Alex Twal, Alex Twal has ended up with the ball, unbelievable.... one small step for man, one giant step for Alex Twal,” Voss screamed.

“A miracle on Fox League on a Saturday night and everyone at Campbelltown knows it... Twal has scored, the world is beautiful.

“This is a moment folks, 116 games in... Twal time.”

“Can you believe it? It is rocking here at Campbelltown, they are going berserk,” Ennis said.

“It has finally happened, it has finally happened,” Voss said.

Twal’s ugly try-scoring record has been a longstanding joke for commentators who dreamt of watching on as Twal scored.

But now, the longest standing try-scoring drought currently in the NRL has been broken.

“We have joked for years saying tonight is the night... I am actually so happy I was here the night he scored,” Ennis said.

Fox League’s James Hooper also revealed head coach Tim Sheens made a huge promise to his prop ahead of the 2023 season.

He told Twal “we are going to get you over the line” and rugby league pundits can’t get enough of the memorable moment.

From the replays it looks like (Klemmer) I think it is, reaches for the ball, yet pulls away at the last minute, to let Twal take it and score.

Surely there are players with longer droughts. Or having never scored in say 100 games of NRL.

Just imagine for a moment of the consequences of The Bunker disallowing the try.
Even the Ref had a wry smile after giving the try.

So apparentely Bryce Gibbs went just short of 150 NRL games before he scored a try.
