Hahahaha. Unbelievable.

Remember when Melbourne were cheating the cap and everyone, including the blind, except the NRL could see they were cheating and signed Finch for "50 grand"? This is up there with it.

When Melbourne signed Finch for "50 grand":

Anyone who isn't a fucking idiot: get the fuck out of here. Who believes this bullshit?

Complete fucking idiots: HiZ SiGnEd WiF MeLbIn BCoZ PlAyAz WiLl TaKe L35s 2 PlAy On A GuD T34m.

You know what really shat me? Last night during the footy they showed Nick Politis having dinner at same restaurant and who else was sitting next to him than that dickhead Khodder Nasser. It's a freaking done deal already, everybody knows that. Bloody hell it's time like this I wish some of our big boppers were still with us to put SBW on his arse.

Regardless, the roosters are going to need more than SBW to win this year. They don't have the same direction they had with Cronk!

Literally a reserve grade winger who's never played in the NRL.
Just read apparently he was worth 150k
And roosters had 200k spare so 350k for sonny to play maybe 4 games.

Fuck the Roosters... they aren't even trying to hide it anymore.

The winger won't be released until next year, so hasn't freed up any money.

But:

It's understood the Roosters have around $200,000 of salary cap space still available for 2020

HAHAHAHA Bullshit. So they are trying to sign him before August 3rd (as its only for this year). That means logically with travel plans and everything he's probably likely to play around Round 15 (22nd August). That'd be if it was signed off around 31st of July and he was on a plane over. 2 weeks quarantine and one week training.

So 5 games, meaning they value him in around $40,000 a game .. or (and wait for it because this is a gigantic pisstake).... $800,000 a season!

NO CHANCE.

More like $1.2 million a season.

What do Sonny Bill Williams, Shaun Lane, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad and Tautau Moga all have in common? The NRL believes they all have a market value of about $400,000.

The Herald can reveal the NRL’s salary cap auditor – Richard Gardham – is poised to make Williams’ market value about $400,000 per year. That puts the two-time NRL premiership winning dual international on about the same pay scale as promising Eels forward Lane - who is on $450,000 a year at Parramatta - and Nicoll-Klokstad, who earns about $350,000 a year in Canberra.

Multiple sources have told the Herald the figure will likely settle around the $400,000 mark. Given the contract Williams is set to sign will be just four to five months long – the actual value deemed appropriate will be in the $150,000 range.

That happens to be almost exactly the amount of salary cap space the club has at its disposal, largely thanks to the departure of Cooper Cronk and Latrell Mitchell at the end of last season.

Fans of rival clubs have questioned how the Roosters’ premiership-winning roster could squeeze a player of Williams’ calibre inside their salary cap but ARL Commission chair Peter V’landys told the Herald there have been no such qualms by club powerbrokers.

‘‘None at all. The thing about the clubs at the moment is that we’re all united,’’ V’landys said. ‘‘We need to promote the game. And one thing Sonny Bill Williams does is promote the game. The more you promote the game, the better your revenue is. When you’re all united and stick together, everyone benefits. Bringing a brand like Sonny Bill Williams into our game will attract substantially more attention, which improves your ratings, which improves your revenue.’’

The ARL Commission will almost certainly overrule a condition that does not allow NRL players to be registered to other leagues around the world, should Toronto Wolfpack owner David Argyle renege on his promise to release Williams with the intention of re-signing him for the 2021 season.

V’landys does not expect attaining permission for Williams to enter the country to be a significant hurdle, given Bulldogs forward Luke Thompson was allowed into Melbourne from the UK earlier this year.
‘‘I think it will be all clear. I don’t see any reason why it won’t be,’’ V’landys said. ‘‘Based on the information I have, I think it will be approved.’’

..............

What a load of shit!!! $400,000 a season which just happens to be how much Roosters have left in cap this season when worked out.

V’landy just admitted that it’s all for revenue $$$$ the roosters pay a lot of revenue to the NRL.
How about you answer the question of why does a 2 time winning team need to get stronger?
Is it fair on the rest of the comp?
